Few holidays are more focused on an abundance of food and thoughtful energetic conversation than Thanksgiving. This feast, which is beloved by many throughout the United States, has become not only known for the Thursday meal but the multiple meals that come in the days after. Thanksgiving leftovers, probably the most well-known leftovers in history, are enjoyed by millions of Americans. These leftovers provide a continuation of many people’s favorite dinner and can also prevent millions of pounds of food from going to waste.
Everyone knows the classic leftover turkey sandwich, but there is so much more you can do with your leftovers. Here are some unique ideas for you and your family to plan for with your Thanksgiving leftovers.
- Mashed Potato Croquette: We know everyone loves mashed potatoes, but what about fried mashed potato balls? Wow! Chill and form your leftover mashed potatoes into balls, cover in panko breadcrumbs, and deep fry. You will thank us later!
- Turkey Enchiladas: Shred any leftover turkey and make enchiladas with your favorite sauce! You can even use the shredded turkey for tacos or quesadillas, too. Throw in leftover veggies for even more flavor and waste prevention.
- Cranberry Cocktail: Muddle a couple of tablespoons of your leftover cranberries and throw in a couple of parts of ginger beer or club soda with the alcohol of your choice for a refreshing cocktail. Don’t forget some lemon or lime!
- Freeze your gravy: Extend the life of your gravy and freeze it to repurpose at another meal!
