Fifty years ago, we came together to celebrate the first Earth Day, giving voice to an emerging public consciousness about our impact on the planet.
Today, we understand more fully how we are all truly connected and how dependent we are on one another and the environment. We now see that when we work together, we can make a difference and that it is everyone’s responsibility to do their part.
Most importantly, we can come together and strengthen our commitment to leaving the planet a better place for our children and grandchildren. When we reopen our doors, we do so knowing that there will be a new normal. We may not know what that new normal will bring, but we do know that we need to continue working together and put both our people and the environment first in this renewed culture of care.
At Compass Group, creating a positive change in the food system and promoting wellbeing for both people and the planet has never been more relevant.
We set out to make a difference and leverage our scale to make a significant change. Our 2019 CSR report demonstrates these big changes with incredible stories of reducing food waste, protecting marine life, and promoting local, organic farms.
As we look ahead to what the future of food holds for all of us, we are inspired by the potential that regenerative agriculture and biodiversity bring to the table, extending our efforts beyond reducing waste and minimizing our carbon foodprint. We’re taking a holistic approach to providing our guests and clients with food that’s better for people & planet –along with neutralizing our impact.
This is our hope, and this is our moment. As this new era dawns, let’s all lean in, and all do our part to protect our Earth so that future generations can continue to receive nourishment and peace from the wonders and beauty of nature.
